ASSOCIATE QUARTERLY

Welcome to the first edition of the Associate Quarterly! The Association is excited to launch this new resource specifically targeted toward our valued Associate members. This newsletter will be sent to all Associate members four times a year with the goal of communicating critical points of information, opportunities to engage with other AFA members, and promote other new initiatives of the Association that are relevant to the Associate member population.

The idea for this newsletter came from the Associate member Focus Group call earlier in 2009, and we hope that the information provided will be relevant, informative and engaging for you. We also invite you to submit information to the Associate Quarterly if you have thoughts or information to share with other Associate members. You may contact Sarah McCracken, Director of Member Services, in the AFA Central Office if you have questions, comments, or submissions for the Associate Quarterly.

We also want to take this time to say Thank You to all of our Associate members for your continued support of the Association. AFA is a better organization because of your involvement, your knowledge, and your services. We value the opportunity to share with our members the great resources that are available to them through AFA Associate members. The Association is excited about several new initiatives that will allow us to provide additional resources for Associate members in the coming months. Stay tuned to the Associate Quarterly for those announcements.

Speakers Showcase

The Annual Meeting Planning Team welcomes speakers and booking agents to apply for the chance to be showcased at the 2009 Annual Meeting. To apply for this exciting opportunity, please click here. The Speaker Showcase will take place on Monday, December 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Speaker Showcase is scheduled during the Exhibit Hall Reception to maximize attendance. In maintaining our green initiatives, you'll be asked to include a brief description and audio-visual materials electronically. Materials must be submitted by Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

There is no application fee. Rather, upon acceptance of the presentation, you and/or your booking agent must be an AFA Associate member. If chosen, you must register to attend and exhibit (you or your booking agent) at the Annual Meeting as well. Associate member dues are $195 and the cost for one individual to attend and exhibit is $1025 (includes an Exhibit Booth and 1 individual registration). Additional Annual Meeting registrants are $295 each.

Contact Marlena Martinez for more information about the Speaker Showcase.

Advertising Opportunities

AFA members are eligible to advertise in AFA's quarterly printed magazine, Perspectives, at a discounted rate. Perspectives promotes the exchange of ideas and best practices, and facilitates a deeper understanding of fraternity/sorority advising. Sent to the entire Association membership, Perspectives can be the perfect opportunity to inform fraternity/sorority professionals about your services, resources, and upcoming events. For more information on advertising rates and submission guidelines, please visit the AFA website or contact Sarah McCracken.

Associate Member Benefit Highlight | Mailing List

Each fiscal year, Associate members are eligible to receive a complimentary one-time use mailing list. Additional lists may be purchased at a rate of $.20/record. The membership can be segmented in a variety of ways to target your intended audience. New this year, AFA is offering one-time use e-mailing lists. To place an order, please contact the Central Office.

Association Name Change

AFA officially began use of its new name, Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors, on Wednesday, July 1. The Central Office is updating all electronic and printed communication. The Association asks that you update references to the Association name on websites and publications to reflect the name change. Please contact the Central Office with any questions.
