AFA Director of Programs Search AFA announces the establishment of a third full-time staff position. The Director of Programs will lead the Association’s professional development programs. In concert with Association volunteers, this mid-level manager is responsible for the development of the Association’s resources and online educational programs and the planning and execution of the AFA Annual Meeting. Innovative, self-directed, and detail oriented individuals are encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted through March 16, 2007. The Pilots are Happening, The Pilots are Happening! What pilots, you ask? It is the next step in the Fraternity/Sorority Community Program Evaluation Project. Throughout the past year, AFA has provided you periodic updates regarding this initiative, most recently at the Annual Meeting. Since we last reported to you, the project has continued to evolve and much progress has been made. Past Presidents Mike Hayes and Amy Vojta have continued to work with the other Coalition members representing NALFO, NIC, NPHC, and NPC in the implementation of this evaluation process. Interfraternity Institute & Rick Barnes IFI Scholarship The Interfraternity Institute (IFI) is a one-week institute bringing together individuals who work with fraternities and sororities on campuses and within inter/national fraternities and sororities. IFI will be held July 14-19, 2007 in Bloomington, IN. For more information, visit the Fraternity Executives Association (FEA) website.
The Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation is pleased to provide one scholarship for a campus-based Professional member of AFA to attend IFI. The Rick Barnes Interfraternity Institute Scholarship is provided annually and covers all registration expenses related to the program. ACPA/NASPA Joint Meeting AFA members attending the ACPA/NASPA Joint Meeting in Orlando, Florida this March will find several educational programs related to fraternity and sorority life. Go here for a summary of those programs. With the Joint Meeting only happening every ten years, 7,000 attendees are anticipated to attend. Learn more about the overall conference online.
National Hazing Symposium AFA is pleased to support the third National Hazing Symposium to be held in conjunction with the ACPA/NASPA Joint Meeting in Orlando, FL on March 31st. The 2007 Symposium will examine how environmental analysis and bystander strategies can be applied at the institutional and individual levels to challenge hazing. The day-long program will provide participants with theoretical and practical strategies to impact their campus and organization environments.
