A Minute with the Board
Transition…we are seeing it everywhere that we look. The leaves turn from green to beautiful shades of gold and red, as the weather changes to cooler days and nights. This progression is also occurring among the students and volunteers with whom we work. Outgoing leaders are wrapping up their time, and new, eager leaders are ready to take the helm! >>Read more from 2010 President Kelly Jo Karnes
Strategic Framework Review
In 2005, the leadership of the Association embarked on a new mission to enhance its members’ ability to create fraternity and sorority experiences that positively affect students, host institutions, and communities. Through the hard work and commitment from our volunteers and the honest feedback of our members and partners, we have moved toward a vision of a unified fraternal movement and increased the recognition of the value of the fraternity and sorority experience. >>Read more from 2009 Past President Jay Anhorn

Annual Meeting Update
As we prepare to meet in Jacksonville, make sure you take advantage of these opportunities:

Fireside Chats Registration Deadline this Friday, November 6! Fireside Chats are a time honored tradition at the Annual Meeting where we provide an atmosphere meant to engage inter/national organizations and campus professionals in discussions about their shared chapters. There are many topics that may be covered during a Fireside Chat, from checking in on a new colony to recruiting more alumni for a chapter to talking through risk management issues. Fireside Chats are meant to be a face-to-face interaction that expands upon conversations that have begun with consultant visits, phone calls, emails, etc.
Fireside Chats are 20 minutes in length, and each inter/national organization and campus will have the opportunity for a maximum of nine scheduled Fireside Chats (per table for inter/national organizations). Similarly, we offer the Fireside Chats Meet and Greet as an opportunity to informally network with and meet representatives from inter/national organizations. This does not allow for in depth conversation but rather a hello.
The deadline to register for Fireside Chats is November 6, 2009, for both campuses and inter/national organizations. Go here to register.
Fireside Chats Meet and Greet Monday | December 7 | 8:00 - 9:15 p.m.
Fireside Chats Tuesday | December 8 | 1:45 - 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by FIPG

Cyberbullying in Fraternities & Sororities November 13 | 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Online life has changed the way in which students interact with one another, the campus-community, and the world, yet being able to express oneself instantly has led to a host of potential legal, academic, and social problems that have also impacted fraternity and sorority chapter reputations and relationships. This virtual seminar will explore the legal, social, and developmental challenges created by instant online expression; examine the very real phenomenon of cyberbullying; and offer student affairs professionals working with fraternities and sororities a few solutions to addressing online interaction among fraternity and sorority members.

We Want to Know What YOU Need! The Mental Health Education Workgroup has developed an assessment about mental health education in our field. Please complete the assessment by November 18.

Coalition Assessment Project-Member Feedback Needed AFA is one of five partners in the Fraternity & Sorority Coalition Assessment Project, now in it's third year. As the partners plan for the future, feedback from campus fraternity/sorority advising professionals is crucial, especially if you have NOT hosted a campus visit. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey.
