Volunteer Leader Status Reports Due April 30 Each volunteer leader is responsible for submitting a Status Report on a quarterly basis, at a minimum. The next quarterly Status Reports are due April 30th. Regional Directors, Committee Chairs, Liaisons, Editors, and Workgroup Chairs should submit Status Reports to their volunteer supervisors. The Executive Board and staff are committed to reviewing all Status Reports and providing volunteers with the guidance, feedback, and support necessary to accomplish their goals.

Volunteers of the MonthDrs. Eric Norman and Patrick Biddix, Editor and Associate Editor of Oracle: The Research Journal of the Association of Fraternity Advisors respectively, have been selected as the March Volunteers of the Month. Oracle Volume 4, Issue 2, was published in February. Their nominator Jeremiah Shinn, Vice President for Resource Development, states "As the Executive Editorial team for Oracle, Eric and Patrick have willfully and enthusiastically accepted one of the most difficult volunteer positions in our Association. The publication of a scholarly journal is an continuous process that must be directed with the highest degree of quality in mind at all times. It is largely because of their commitment that we are able to advance the role of scholarship in AFA." Thanks Eric and Patrick! Please contact the Central Office to recommend a Volunteer of the Month.

Strategic Plan UpdateAs the Association enters into the final stages of the 2005-2010 Strategic Plan, the Executive Board continues to identify the remaining needs of the membership in order to move AFA forward. Over the past year, we have found that many of the pertinent action items have been completed through a variety of ways, including projects completed within the Central Office, resources produced by workgroups, and intentional partnerships with our interfraternal and higher education colleagues. To our members, and you as volunteers, some of these initiatives may seem to naturally occur given our success in building relationships with our constituents over the years and our commitment to constantly meet our members need and want. >>Read the full update from Past President Jay Anhorn

Thought of the Day
Are you a good setter? Jeffrey Cufaude asks this question in his most recent blog post. In his analogy to volleyball, Cafaude argues that it is harder to hit a great shot in volleyball if the ball has been set in a different position that you expect. This month in The AFA Volunteer, we encourage you to reflect on your role in your volunteer team. Are you setting up your fellow committee members for success? What about your supervisor or those that you supervise? Do you share mutual expectations - is your volleyball where you both expect? >>Read Jeffrey Cufaude's complete blog post

Procedures Manual Highlight: Board ProposalWould you like the Board to consider a change in action or a new intiative? The Board Proposal form is for just this purpose. Found on page 33 of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual or easily accessed from the Volunteer Resources webpage, this form should be used by Liaisons, Editors, Committee/Workgroup Chairs, Executive Board members, and staff to request specific Board action.

Survey Regarding Professional Supervisors of AFA Volunteers The AFA Recruiting Supervisors Workgroup is interested in reaching out to professional supervisors of AFA members. AFA's efforts to connect with supervisors - for membership purposes or simply to share information and resources - will ideally enhance those supervisors' ability to be supportive advocates of fraternity/sorority professionals and of the fraternal movement. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
