Volunteer Evaluation Process | What Happens Next?!  

Thank you to all volunteers who completed the evaluations and Volunteer Experience Survey! Your feedback is critical to the improvement of the Volunteer Management Plan and the AFA volunteer experience. Here's a quick summary of what happens now that the evaluation data is received until June 30th when the 2009 evaluation process is completed.

June 1st:  the process of distributing Evaluation Results to all volunteers begins. In early June, you will receive your individual evaluation summary by email.

 

June 4th - June 11th: During this week period, the Volunteer Coordinator and Director of Member Services will hold conversations with Board Members, the Annual Meeting Chair, and Central Office staff regarding general themes for the volunteer areas that these individuals supervise.


Between June 11th-19th: During this time period, Volunteer Leaders will have a conference call with their volunteer supervisor (Board Member, Annual Meeting Chair, or Central Office Staff Member). This call will discuss the overall evaluation results for the committee as a whole.
 
Between June 19th-30th: Conversations take place between Volunteer Leaders and general volunteers to discuss your individual volunteer evaluation results. We suggest you pre-schedule these calls!

Volunteer of the Month - Brandon Cutler

Brandon Cutler, Assistant Director for Greek Affairs at Kansas State University, serves AFA as a member of the Annual Meeting Planning Team's Educational Programs Committee. His nominator, Jennifer Leung, states "Brandon developed and distributed a survey to seasoned professionals in the Association so that, as a committee, we could better understand the programming needs of the dedicated, seasoned professionals in the field. The results of this survey will be used this year, (and for years to come in the future, I'm sure) to help provide outstanding professional development for seasoned members of the Association. Brandon  is an outstanding member of our committee." Thank you Brandon!

Volunteer Position Description Review Update

The first stages of the 2010 volunteer appointment process began with a review of volunteer position descriptions. This year, in an effort to increase consistency among position descriptions and ensure position description accuracy, the Volunteer Coordinator, Central Office Staff, and Executive Board have completed an in depth review of the position descriptions before they were sent to volunteer leaders and committees for review. Thank you to all Volunteer leaders who have already submitted their revisions. Revised position descriptions are due to the Volunteer Coordinator by Friday, May 29th, and will be reviewed by the Board in June.

Ready for more responsibility as a volunteer? The process for nominating Professional and Graduate members for 2010 elected officer positions continues. The Nominations and Elections Committee is seeking nominations for President-Elect, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Vice President for Resource Development, and Regional Directors. AFA Award Nominations
Submission Deadline | July 1

Each year, AFA seeks to recognize outstanding contributions by our members in several different categories. Go here for a complete list of awards. The AFA Awards Committee invites you to submit nominations for the 2009 honors. It takes only a few minutes of your time to submit a nomination. The process relies on you! All nominations must be submitted by July 1, 2009 to awards@fraternityadvisors.org.

Tackling Your Summer To-Do List

 

For some of volunteers, summer provides a welcome reprieve from day-to-day meetings, but for others it means long hours of annual convention preparation and volunteering at student leadership conferences. Standard Operating Procedures Manual Highlight | Online Community

One of the most used AFA resources is the Online Community.  Page 15 of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual discusses Online Community usage. Volunteers are encouraged to be active participants on the Online Community including sharing ideas, posing and answering questions, and engaging with fellow fraternity/sorority professionals and volunteers.
