The Volunteer Management Plan The Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors exists as a volunteer-driven organization, and its success relies upon the effectiveness of its volunteers. AFA's Volunteer Management Plan incorporates a holistic approach to the volunteer experience. The recruitment, training, evaluation, and recognition of Association volunteers is essential, and it is AFA’s belief that all aspects must work in conjunction with the others to be most effective.
Volunteer Coordinator Anne Arseneau and Director of Member Services Sarah McCracken have recently completed a full review and update of the Volunteer Management Plan to be more inclusive of all volunteer opportunities including short-term and one-time volunteer opportunities. The updated Volunteer Management Plan can be found on the Volunteer Resources section of the AFA website.

2010 Standard Operating Procedures Manual The Standard Operating Procedures Manual has been updated and is available on the Volunteer Resources Section of the AFA Website. In your work as a volunteer you may find procedures that need to be added or updated. Please submit changes to the Executive Board using the Board Proposal Form (Appendix D).
An exciting new addition this year is the Visual Standards Manual (Appendix G). The Visual Standards Manual (VSM) is still in draft form, as new logos for the Annual Meeting and publications are being designed. The Central Office anticipates having the final version by the end of November. In the mean time, please do not hesitate to follow the guidelines outlined in the VSM and if you have any questions, please contact the Central Office.

2010 Volunteer Placement Thank you to all volunteers who completed their 2010 Involvement Form. Volunteers for 2010 were notified in early October of their placement. The Association was able to place 170 volunteers who join elected officers and current workgroups for a volunteer corp of over 210 individuals! Click here to view the 2010 Volunteer Roster.
2010 Volunteer Coordinator - Kara Miller The Association is excited to announce that Kara Miller, Assistant Dean of Students at Cornell University, has been selected to serve as the Association's Volunteer Coordinator for 2010-2011. Kara's experience with engaging distance volunteers, supervising large committees, and attention to detail with the Annual Meeting made her a great candidate for the position.
Kara will transition into the position, which has been held by Anne Arseneau since the position's creation four years ago. The Association is grateful for Anne's extraordinary service. As Anne and Kara begin the transition process between now and the Annual Meeting, we ask that if you have any concerns, questions, or comments involving your 2009 or 2010 volunteer position please send the email to Anne Arseneau, Kara Miller, and Sarah McCracken. We hope this level of communication will ease the transition of all new and ongoing volunteer matters.
