Addressing Hazing Within Fraternities & Sororities
September 2005
Each year since 1970 at least one student has died while pledging or rushing a fraternity or sorority at a U.S. college/university. Hazing incidents across the country have led to the closing of chapter houses, removal of members, and civil and criminal prosecution, including jail time. This Virtual Seminar focuses on the challenges inherent in defining hazing; basic issues of criminal and civil liability; the need for a collaborative approach to investigating and adjudicating hazing incidents; and strategies for addressing hazing on our campuses.
