Call for Values Congruence: Inter/National Umbrella Organizations Responses and the Impact of Newly Developed Standards on Fraternities and Sororities
November 2005
Description
In 2002, college and university presidents and inter/national fraternity/sorority executive directors joined together to develop a presidential initiative to transform the collegiate fraternal environment. They met at the Franklin Square in Washington. Its name is affixed to these deliberations, the outcome of which was A Call for Values Congruence. The Franklin Square conferees firmly believe that rhetoric will match reality when fraternal organizations, host campuses, and students collaboratively implement and assess practices and policies grounded in a shared set of standards. Each umbrella organization (NALFO, NIC, NPC, and NPHC) has taken this charge and created a set of standards by which their member organizations and host institutions are asked to abide. As campuses respond to the Call for Values Congruence, many are developing standards programs of their own. This seminar provides a forum for representatives of NALFO, NIC, NPC, and NPHC to update association members on their new initiatives, share implementation strategies, and host general discussion of the movement for all stakeholders.
