Senior Student Affairs Professionals’ Insights on Fraternity/Sorority Life

Description
This live virtual seminar includes joint video and telephone technology. The panelists will provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the role of senior student affairs professionals and their relationships with campus-based fraternity/sorority professionals.

Topics covered will include:

  • Outcomes and expectations from campus-based fraternity/sorority life offices/departments;
  • Transferable skills that will benefit campus-based fraternity/sorority professionals as they continue through their careers in student affairs
  • Hot topics and major issues related to fraternities/sororities for senior student affairs officers
  • Building effective partnerships with upper-level campus administrators  
Presenters
Dr. Kay Bales
has served as the top administrator for Ball State University's Student Affairs division since July 2005. She was previously the associate vice president for student life. She began her work for Ball State in 1989 in the Student Activities office and eventually directed that office before accepting her current role in 2000. During that time, Kay also completed her doctorate in Adult and Community Education.
 
Debbie Heida is the Vice President for Student Affairs at Berry College. She also serves as the board chair for the Center for the Study of the College Fraternity and is the NASPA Fraternity/Sorority Knowledge Community co-chair.

Sue Wasiolek has a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Science Education and a Masters of Health Administration from Duke University. While in graduate school, Sue was a Resident Advisor in Aycock and Hanes House. She worked in the Medical Center for 18 months and then, in 1979, joined the Student Affairs staff. Sue completed her J.D. at North Carolina Central University and her L.L.M. at Duke in 1993. Sue was briefly away from student affairs but returned in 1995 and has continued to thoroughly enjoy her life here.
