NPC Recruitment Structures: Stories of Success and Triumph
April 2007

Description
This live virtual seminar includes web and telephone technology. The panelists will provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) styles for recruitment and how to assess their campus culture to determine which style will work best for their College Panhellenic.

The subject will be presented by a representatives of the National Panhellenic Conference and three campus-based professionals who have worked with their College Panhellenic to implement a new style of recruitment.

Topics covered will include:

  • NPC Recruitment Styles
    • A full review of the NPC Recruitment Styles to include: Fully Structured Recruitment, Partially Structured Recruitment, Minimally Structured Recruitment, and Continuous Recruitment.
    • Participants will receive a basic overview of each style with a focus on Partially Structured, Minimally Structured, and Continuous Recruitment. Participants will learn how to work with the College Panhellenic to evaluate the community’s needs and, if determined to be appropriate, transition away from a Fully Structured Recruitment process to a new style of recruitment that will benefit both the Panhellenic women and the potential new members.
  • Success Stories
    • Three case studies will be presented by campuses that have implemented a style of recruitment other than Fully Structured Recruitment. Panelists will each share a brief review of their process in switching to a new style of recruitment, share their calendar for recruitment as well as statistics related to the results of the change.
    • Participants will be provided with examples of how to begin the conversation with the members of the Panhellenic Council, assess the current culture of Panhellenic recruitment, and determine which style of recruitment fits best in response to the conversations and assessment.
  • Suggested Steps for Evaluation and Implementation
    • Highlights will include suggestions from the National Panhellenic Conference as well as from fraternity and sorority professionals on how to work with the Panhellenic leaders to begin the conversation within the council on the new styles of recruitment.
    • Participants will be provided with best practices on how to work cooperatively with your NPC Area Advisor on implementing a new style of recruitment to better suit the needs of their campuses. In addition, participants will be able to ask questions about the different assessments that were completed on the three example campuses being highlighted.
