Lights, Camera, Action: Media Readiness for the Fraternity/Sorority Professional
September 2007
A reality of fraternity and sorority life is that unfortunate crisis situations (an alcohol-related injury or death, hazing incident, etc.) can arise at any time and the media may suddenly appear at your office... or on the doorstep of your chapters. This seminar will prepare you for such situations, teach you skills in dealing with the media, and provide tools for you to train your students and volunteers on how to handle the situation.
AFA’s resource, Media Readiness for Campus Fraternity/Sorority Professionals, was released in conjunction with this seminar. Purchase this resource along with the Virtual Seminar recording and receive a discounted rate of $15 for members or $30 for non-members (the regular price for the resource is $25 for member or $40 for non-members).
Topics to be covered will include:
- How to appropriately frame messages for the media
- Interview skills and preparation
- Developing media strategies
Meet the facilitators:
- Doug Case, Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life, San Diego State University
- Tom Hansen, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Services, DePauw University
- Brad Bohlander, Executive Director of Public Relations, Colorado State University
