Assessment 101
February 20, 2008

Description
The AFA Assessment Committee will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of assessment within fraternity and sorority life. The guiding principles of assessment will be introduced and applied to developing intentional and measurable learning outcomes. Salient documents regarding essential learning outcomes, assessment, and transparency in higher education will be discussed. The committee will provide all participants with assessment tool-templates that can be easily incorporated into daily operations at no cost. Large-scale initiatives will also be introduced. Participants will learn how continuous assessment can assist in the justification of new initiatives while enabling the incorporation of best practices for cultural change.

Presenters
  • Sara L. Jahansouz, University of North Carolina, Pembroke
  • Jason Bergeron, Michigan Technological University
