Planning for Building a Fraternity/Sorority Village

This seminar is designed to educate professionals on key issues associated with planning for building a fraternity/sorority village.  First hand experience will be shared from the perspectives of a campus professional, a housing developer, and a theme housing consultant.  Whether your campus is ready to begin the strategic planning process for building a fraternity/sorority village or is simply curious about the issues associated with the process this session is for you.
 
Topics covered include:
  • Key steps to beginning the planning process
  • Building university village vs. individual organization housing
  • Evaluating whether it is a university need/want vs. individual organization's need/want
  • Determining if space and land is available
  • Exploring if you can involve all organizations, not just NPC and NIC organizations
  • Determining the most appropriate entity to build
  • Assessing if the students are willing to pay to live in these new facilities and live by the policies of the national organization and university
Presenter
Greg Mason is the Director of Fraternity/Sorority Housing and Development at the University of Central Florida (UCF).  Greg has over 20 years of experience in higher education, leadership programming and Fraternity/Sorority Life.  He has been with UCF for the past 18 years and served as Director for Greek Affairs for 14 years, where the fraternal community grew from 21 chapters and 1,300 students in 1990 to 44 chapters and over 3,000 students in 2005.  He has been serving as the Director of Fraternity/Sorority Housing and Development since fall of 2005.
 
Greg is a well known throughout the country, especially in the area of Fraternity and Sorority Housing.  He has considerable experience in the areas of Recruitment, Marketing, Risk Management and leadership programming. He has facilitated numerous workshops for chapters, leadership conferences and national conventions.
 
Greg is a 1984 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College (Berea, Ohio) and is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.  He earned his master’s degree in 1987 in Sports Administration from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) and is a member of the Central Florida Indiana University Alumni Association (Go Hoosiers!)
