What You Need to Know about
Fraternity/Sorority Student Conduct Procedures

Description
This virtual seminar reviews fraternity/sorority student conduct procedures. During this seminar panelists will examine student conduct procedures for NPC sororities, fraternity/sorority conduct boards, and administrative policies for fraternity/sorority communities. What is the process for NPC sorority violations? How can fraternity/sorority conduct boards work together to determine the best outcome for the community? What are recommended practices for staff involvement in student conduct boards? An excellent skill-building opportunity, this virtual seminar will aid those who advise at the community level.
 
 
The Presenters 
Lynne Chambers has been on the Alpha Sigma Alpha NPC delegation since 1998 and as delegate since 2000. In addition to the NPC Board of Directors, she serves on the College Panhellenics Committee as Area Advisor to the campuses in West Virginia and on the Extension Committee. In prior years she has been chairman of the Bylaws and Awards Committees and has served on the recruitment, housing and judicial appeals committees, as well as several task forces.

As an Area Advisor in the Northeast Region, Lynne has been on the Board of Directors for NGLA, and has been a facilitator for the NGLA Conference for seven years, including the last two on NPC judicial procedures.

Lynne has also served her own organization as a national volunteer since 1970, including 19 years  (and counting) as a chapter advisor.

Phil Covington serves as Assistant Dean for Student Activities at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas.  He holds a B.B.A. in Finance and an M.S. in Counseling, both from Fort Hays State University.  He is currently working on his dissertation for the completion of an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  His research focuses on all-hazards preparedness from the student affairs perspective.

Prior to his service at SAU, Phil served as Associate Vice President for Student Services/Dean of Students at Arkansas Tech University.  He also directed Judicial Affairs and Greek Life at Emporia State University and was Director of Student Support Services at Dickinson State University.

His involvement in AFA includes service as an Area Coordinator, participant in the Profession Advocacy Think Tank, and as a contributing editor to the upcoming Student Conduct Resource Guide. Phil is also active in the Association for Student Conduct Administration, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the Arkansas College Personnel Association.

Suzette Zompetti received her Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University, Macon, GA; and her Master of Education from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC.  Suzette, also, became a certified mediator in conflict resolution in 2004.  She is presently is a doctoral student in Education Administration and Foundations at Illinois State University.

Suzette serves as the Senior Specialist for Community Rights & Responsibilities in the Dean of Students Office at Illinois State University, in Normal, IL.  Suzette has been working for the Dean of Students Office at Illinois State University for the last seven years.  In that time, she has worked with student programming; advising the Student Government Association; student organization funding; graduate assistant recruitment, training and development; and student organization and individual student discipline.

Her extensive work in the area of student organization conduct has lead to a number of speaking and consulting opportunities across the country.  Most recently, Suzette was asked to serve on the faculty for the joint National Association for Campus Activities and Association for Student Conduct Administration Student Organization Institute scheduled for July 2010 at the University of Louisville.

Suzette is involved in the Association for Student Conduct Administration and National Association for Student Personnel Administrators.  In addition to her professional work in Student Affairs, Suzette is an alumnae member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority; and currently, serves as on the team that is revising the International Sorority’s approach to leadership education.  Suzette, also, served as the first female Alumni Board of Trustees President for the Illinois State University Chapter of the Delta Chi Fraternity.
